What type of Functional Assessment do I need?

At the core of every assessment is:
- Evaluating the worker’s abilities against essential job requirements,
- Analysing the many variables that affect the worker’s ability to perform the job or return to work, and
- Identifying realistic and job-specific work capabilities and restrictions.
A well-designed and executed functional assessment involves a systematic evaluation of the physical, psychosocial and environmental factors affecting an injured worker’s level of activity and participation in his/her occupation(s).
Our functional assessments include the following components:
- ACTIVITY ANALYSIS - we identify the essential activities, tasks & functional requirements of the worker’s role and suitable employment options
- ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC EVALUATION - we construct and administer an activity-specific evaluation at the worksite, home or at the Humanomics Assessment Centre
- PSYCHOMETRIC EVALUATION - we identify, and assess the impact of, psychosocial and environmental factors that are likely affect the worker’s current and future capabilities
- EDUCATION - we educate the worker about the natural history of occupational injuries and, if at risk, we can provide one-to-one reassurance, advice & training for the worker in proven methods of managing injury and pain
- ASSESSMENT OUTCOME AND REPORT - we synthesise the results of the activity-specific and psychosocial evaluations to determine and communicate the worker’s capabilities and needs
- NEGOTIATION - we consult with the nominated treating doctor to obtain agreement on realistic work capabilities and restrictions
ERGONOMIC SOLUTIONS - if indicated, we assist employers with making reasonable adjustments to a worker’s job to accommodate any special needs and to prevent injury aggravation or recurrence.
